Global security issues and technical news from Network Box CTO, Mark Webb-Johnson.
This month, we are releasing our first system based purely on Generative AI technology: Automated Advice for NBSIEM+ Incident Tickets. Until now, when NBSIEM+ decides to escalate a reported event to create an incident ticket, it simply uses some templated text as the raised ticket. The new enhancement to this is to use our trained Generative AI model (using the raised incident ticket text and the event itself as contextual attachments) to generate automated advice to be provided as part of the raised ticket text. Highlighting background information, explaining the event, and recommendations on handling it. We discuss this in detail on pages 2 to 3.
In other news, the NBSIEM+ App is getting an exciting upgrade! Available later this month, the new version is packed with powerful updates to make security management smoother, faster, and more intuitive than ever. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Network Box won the Most Trusted Cyber Protection Company at the APAC Insider’s Singapore Business Awards 2025. This is the fourth consecutive year that Network Box has won this award – many congratulations to our Singapore office for their hard work in receiving this award.
This month, Network Box’s Managing Director, Michael Gazeley, discusses Cybersecurity Imperatives for the Legal Profession. Modern law firms are no longer just targets for traditional crimes; they have become prime targets for cybercriminals, who are attracted by the vast amounts of confidential client information contained within each firm’s digital infrastructure. Unfortunately, many firms fail to implement comprehensive cybersecurity measures to safeguard this sensitive data. On pages 2 to 4, we highlight the threats facing law firms and suggest strategies to protect both their practices and their clients.
In other news, Network Box Hong Kong held a cybersecurity workshop in partnership with Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited. Additionally, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our Box Mail app for Android and iOS. Tailored for users who have subscribed to our email scanning services, Box Mail allows users to manage their email security on the go, anytime and anywhere. Please use the links to download the FREE app today.
This month, we are discussing our new mail portal system, Box Mail. Previously, Network Box launched our Mail Portal system, which allowed end-users to personally whitelist/blacklist emails and empowered them to manage their own email protection – whilst remaining under the overall global organizational policy. However, there were some constraints, and Box Mail was developed to eliminate these. On pages 2 to 3, we discuss how Network Box has addressed these issues, and highlight Box Mail’s key features and how it will improve the overall user experience.
On page 4, we highlight the set of enhancements and fixes to be released in this month’s Patch Tuesday for NBRS-5 and our cloud services.
In other news, Network Box had an article titled “Cybersecurity: The New Frontier of Physical Security,” published in the HKSA, and was the cover story of the latest issue of Asia Law Business Journal. Additionally, Network Box has compiled key In the Boxing Ring articles in the Network Box Technology Review.
Happy New Year! This month, we are talking about Pigeonholing. As a species, we like to categorize things, as it is helpful to break things down and group things together – divide and conquer. However, sometimes, we take this too far and start pigeonholing unnecessarily. With cybersecurity, at the start, there were firewalls, then UTMs and NGFWs. Today, we have a plethora of buzzwords – SIEM, EDP, EDR, XDR, MSSP, MDR, SASE, PAAS, WAF, SOAR, SECaaS, SD-WAN, Edge Security, and dozens more small contenders. The bottom line is that this is all marketing fluff. On pages 2 to 3, we cut through all the buzz and hype, and highlight what is truly important in protecting you.
On page 4, we highlight the set of enhancements and fixes to be released in this month’s Patch Tuesday for Network Box 5 and our cloud services.
In other news, Network Box Hong Kong participated in Tradelink’s Cyber Security 360 event, and the Digital and Quality Development Forum hosted by the Internet Professional Association. Additionally, Network Box’s Michael Gazeley gave a cybersecurity seminar at the Hong Kong Baptist University School of Business. Finally, Network Box was the cover story of the latest issue of Banking Today.
